Recommendation
The BBC World Service is the BBC’s best asset for competing with other international news providers delivering trusted news and accurate information to a global audience. It is one of the UK’s best assets in combatting misinformation and disinformation around the world and a unique conduit of soft-power. The government should not assume that the World Service will always be there, because once it is gone, it is gone forever and its market share will be taken by international media that is hostile to the UK’s interests.
