Select Committee · International Relations and Defence Committee
The UK and the Western Balkans
Status: Closed
Opened: 16 Oct 2023
Closed: 16 Feb 2024
Inquiry scope
This short inquiry is a follow-up to the Committee’s report The UK and the Future of the Western Balkans , published in January 2018. It also presents an opportunity to scrutinise HMG’s commitment to “step up engagement with…the Western Balkans…to boost their prosperity, security, and resilience to Russian interference”, as set out in the 2023 Integrated Review Refresh. The inquiry will explore UK interests in the Western Balkans, and the UK's role in promoting security, stability, and prosperity in the region.Oral evidence sessions
