Conclusion
We welcome the Joint Statement on the Environment and the CPTPP provisions on environmental protection. We also note the concerns raised by witnesses, particularly regarding UK import of palm oil. However, as the UK was signing up to an existing agreement it was required largely to accept the terms as stated.
