Conclusion
The delay to the Government’s Single Trade Window, originally planned to be rolled out towards the end of 2024, highlights the budgetary and resource implications of trade digitisation schemes. Exploring technological solutions to facilitate and ease border processes is highly desirable, but complicated, resource intensive and expensive. However, we also note that other countries have been successful in implementing single trade windows, so this is an area in which the UK could learn from the experience of other countries.
