We recognise the value in the view that the UK could act as an effective interlocutor between the EU and other parts of the world on data governance and privacy issues. However, we would like to stress the considerable resourcing challenges that would be involved in adequately maintaining this ‘bridge’ position. Such an approach would require considerable investment, resources and skills.
