The government's response
Summary written by Accountability Index from the government's response. It is not the government's own words.
The Promoter reaffirms the assurances and undertaking given to the Select Committee, does not consider that any amendment to the Bill is necessary or desirable, and is unable to agree to the additional Assurance 11.
- On security (Recommendation 3), the Promoter says security matters will continue to be examined in the planning process, "the proper forum for considering them", and "does not therefore consider that any amendment to the Bill is necessary or desirable".
- The Promoter "is unable to agree" to the proposed overarching Assurance 11, because it is not possible to know what constraints may apply to a new design. It will give "careful attention" to the issues raised, to the extent relevant to any replacement proposal.
- On the refreshment kiosk (Recommendation 1), the Promoter "will look carefully" at the design and location, alongside the playground review. Information will be published following the review, with its final response.
- The Promoter "agrees" that interaction between the HMLC and R&R programmes is important and "will continue to work" with the R&R team. Recommendation 2 on closures is directed to The Royal Parks, which the Promoter will "seek to work constructively" with.
