HM Government
Accepted
The Government has worked decisively to agree an agenda for strengthened cooperation with the EU across safety, security and economic prosperity. Further technical negotiations are required in order to implement these commitments now and over the course of this Parliament, including via legislation. We will conclude these negotiations as swiftly as possible, whilst ensuring that Parliament is given the opportunity to scrutinise new arrangements and to have its say. Our strengthened cooperation with the EU sits within the Government’s wider global policy of re-establishing the UK’s leadership on the international stage. The UK’s landmark deals with the EU, US and India, which the Committee has recently launched an inquiry into, allow us to seize the opportunities of the future—a clear message, sent across the globe, that Britain is back on the world stage.
