Government Response Acknowledged
HM Government Acknowledged
The Government notes that the Data (Use and Access) Bill received Royal Assent and became an Act of Parliament on 19 June; we welcome this. Data is a growth-driving feature of the business environment, where data’s use in the economy is enabled to grow alongside the importance of protecting citizens personal data through the UK’s data protection framework, international data flow arrangements and security. We will follow the development of the EU Data Union Strategy with interest. The UK welcomes the European Commission’s adoption of a 6-month extension to the UK’s two adequacy decisions. We understand the value of adequacy for organisations that rely on personal data flows from the EU to the UK to deliver services for our citizens. UK officials continue to support the European Commission’s adequacy review process, as required, ahead of the 27 December deadline.
