Conclusion
When launched in 2017, the fundamental purpose of the Industrial Strategy was to address poor productivity in the UK, particularly outside of the South East. However, improved productivity was not itself a Grand Challenge or mission of the strategy. This may have contributed to a sense of the Strategy’s complexity and lack of clear purpose.
