HM Government Acknowledged
At the time the Committee was taking evidence, we were in the midst of an ongoing industrial dispute with the Communication Workers Union (CWU). The Committee report called on Royal Mail and the CWU to resolve the outstanding issues in the dispute as quickly as possible. Since then, after extensive negotiation and with the support of Sir Brendan Barber, I am pleased to say that we have reached a negotiators agreement. The CWU has recommended that its members accept the proposed agreement in the upcoming ballot. We very much hope that they will so that we can move forwards.
