Conclusion
The Committee is concerned by the discrepancies between stated policy and the actual use of PDA data at Royal Mail for individual performance management. We therefore invite the Information Commissioner to review the legal basis for the collection, storage and use of this data and to report their findings to the Committee by the end of 2023.

I am writing to you following the publication of your committee’s report into Royal Mail, dated 14 March 2023. The committee raised concerns about the use of PDA data at Royal Mail and requested I review the processing of this data and report back by the end of 2023. I wanted to inform you that my office has already made preliminary enquiries with Royal Mail and is also corresponding with your committee’s staff. We expect to respond to your request before the end of the year and I will be in touch again as soon as I have further details to share with you.
