Inquiry scope
In August 2018, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, asked Lord Tyrie to come forward with proposals to safeguard the interests of consumers and to maintain and improve public confidence in markets. In February 2019, Lord Tyrie wrote to Secretary of State outlining such proposals, in both a letter and a summary . The BEIS Committee will examine issues around the CMA’s competition and consumer protection regimes and follow-up on the remedies proposed by the CMA and BEIS Committee inquiries into the audit market.Oral evidence sessions
