Conclusion
We received considerable evidence regarding the damaging nature of fishing using bottom-contacting gears which occurs across English waters, including within Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This type of activity is some of the most damaging to marine ecosystems and species and achieving 30 by 30 will require careful management of these activities.
