We received substantial written evidence detailing the challenging lack of transparent and reliable monitoring data for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). As on land, this makes establishing a robust baseline of data to use to target resources very difficult. Rigorous monitoring data must be established quickly to inform effective marine management and decision making to achieve 30 by 30 at sea.
