Conclusion
We welcome Defra’s plan to publish a map of the land and sea that will count towards 30 by 30 before the end of 2023. We are concerned about the lack of clarity around progress towards 30 by 30 at sea due to reported discrepancies in the extent of English waters that are effectively protected and the paucity of monitoring data. It is critical that the Government provide clarity on how 30 by 30 will be met at sea.
