Recommendation 16

We recommend that areas contributing towards 30 by 30 should comply with the guidance set out by the IUCN which requires that protected areas are “clearly defined geographical space, recognised, dedicated and managed through legal or other effective means, to achieve the long- term conservation of nature with associated ecosystem services and cultural values”. Further, we recommend that the longevity criteria for ‘long- term’ conservation be set at more than 30 years.
