Compliance with the current producer responsibility regulations under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 is variable. We heard that the regulations are not well communicated by some manufacturers and there is poor awareness of them. At present the regulations are not well enforced, but we heard that even if better enforced, they would still fall short of what will be required to manage the expected increase in volume of EVs.
