Conclusion
The AI Safety Institute should develop robust techniques to identify and mitigate societal risks. The Government’ s AI risk register should include a range of societal risks, developed in consultation with civil society. DSIT should also use its White Paper response to propose market-oriented measures which incentivise ethical development from the outset, rather than retrospective guardrails. Options include using Government procurement and accredited standards, as set out in Chapter 7.
