Select committee: Built Environment Committee

Conclusion 14

2nd Report - The impact of environmental regulations on development Published 21 Sep 2023 Paragraph 75
Conclusion (the committee's words)
Too often, the outcome of government policies and regulations place responsibility for preventing and addressing historic pollution onto those with limited, if any, power to effect change. Balancing the social, environmental and economic benefits and costs of development is a difficult task requiring expertise, evidence, ability and genuine willingness to effect change: it is a matter for the Government and Parliament.
