Conclusion
In September 2020, the then Government amalgamated a number of ‘Use Classes’ within the planning system into a single Use Class E to increase flexibility in building usage and revitalise city centres. Use Class E is a broad category of commercial, business and service uses and allows change in use across these areas without the need to apply for planning permission. For example, a retail shop could be converted into a café. Pubs and bars are not included.
