Recommendation
Whilst commercial property acquisition can present exciting opportunities for local authorities, there are risks if insufficient expertise is accessed or held within the authority. The Government should ensure that local authorities seeking to acquire new commercial properties in their local area have accessed the appropriate expertise and are able to effectively manage a commercial development portfolio.
