Recommendation
The current price review mechanisms for utility companies may be unsuitable for ensuring investment in long term resilience. We welcome the Prime Minister’s recently- announced review of energy regulation, but we recommend that the Government goes further, undertaking an urgent review of price control mechanisms across all relevant infrastructure sectors. This should consider specifically their suitability for ensuring investment in CNI resilience and climate adaptation, in time to inform the next set of price reviews.
