Recommendation 25

25

Annual Report and Accounts lacks analysis of Department’s progress in improving productivity.

Recommendation
The Department’s Annual Report and Accounts also does not contain analysis of the Department’s progress in improving productivity and efficiency. We asked, given the importance of productivity to ensuring that NHS expenditure was sustainable, if it would pay more attention to this in future. The Department told us that productivity was “absolutely one of the top priorities” as part of the 10–year plan and the spending review, and committed to addressing this issue.41
