Many employers, particularly SMEs, remain unaware of T Level qualifications.
Conclusion
Employers play a critical role across T Levels, through helping to develop qualification content that meets their requirements and providing students with industry placements.27 However not all employers are aware of T Levels – the Department told us that currently only a third of employers know about the qualification.28 Written evidence from EngineeringUK highlighted that while most of the engineering and manufacturing employers it surveyed in 2022 had heard of T Levels, a large proportion of small and medium employers did not and only 28% understood what they involved.29 However, the Department described that once employers had started providing industry placements, they often increased the places offered.30
