Charlotte Brumpton-Childs told us that when the Department was putting the steel strategy together, it had listened to a range of experts and successfully identified common ground. She said the steel strategy was built on identifying capability gaps and having a plan for meeting them. However, she also said there was still more to be done on a range of strategy measures such as energy policy, the emissions trading scheme, and investing in steel for defence and offshore wind. Charlotte Brumpton- Childs said GMB had raised concerns about the emissions trading scheme with the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.66
