Inquiry scope
In 2014, the Home Office obtained evidence of large-scale organised fraud during Secure English Language Tests required under immigration rules for students and other visas. The Home Office investigation found wide spread failings in sponsors and test centres, including evidence on organised criminality. The Home Office has suspended a number of test centres’ licences and revoked visas of people accused of cheating. The National Audit Office published a report on the Home Office’s handling of the allegations. Based on that report, the Committee is looking at the Home Office’s response to the allegations, approach to identifying cheating and the action it has taken to assure the quality of tests.Reports
