Comparing inspectorates inquiry

Status: Closed Opened: 22 Jan 2015 Closed: 26 Mar 2015
Inquiry scopeThe government and Parliament see inspection as a key tool for providing assurance, enabling accountability and bringing about improvement in the delivery of public services. This inquiry compares and contrasts how inspectorates across the sectors covered by the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office direct their work, carry out their inspection activities, and whether the impact of inspection is maximised. The Committee takes evidence from three inspectorates: Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons; Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary; and the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration.
