Background The Major Projects Report sets out the progress made by the Ministry of Defence (the Department) in delivering its largest defence projects. The report contains data on the cost, time and performance of the 11 largest projects where the Department has decided to invest, together with less detailed information on the largest projects where it has not yet decided to invest. The Department has published its second annual statement for the period 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2023 on the affordability of its plans to deliver and support the equipment that the Armed Forces require to meet the objectives set out in the National Security Strategy. The Equipment Plan consists of both procurement and support costs which, for the period 2013-23, covers a budget of £165 billion. Taken together, the Major Projects Report and the Equipment Plan provide Parliament with the information it needs to examine how the Department is managing the procurement and support of the UK's defence capability.
