Recommendation
The Government’s proposals to create a new statutory duty of care to make companies take more responsibility for the safety of their users, enforced by an independent regulator, could provide a valuable framework for ensuring that internet companies uphold people’s human rights. We urge the Government to include in its proposed “duty of care” a requirement for companies to adhere to robust standards on how people’s data is processed.
