The government must give the AISI a statutory duty to inform the authorities, including the new AI oversight body, of potential risks posed by AI models and systems. This should include a duty to advise the oversight body of the need to prevent AI systems from being launched or deployed, or to order them to be withdrawn from the market, if AISI identifies significant risks to human rights.
