The UK should continue to play a leading role in international AI summits and seek to be party to international declarations and agreements on AI safety. In particular, the government should use its G20 presidency and other available global leadership opportunities to make the case for enabling or building upon international mechanisms to address AI harms and intervene early where necessary in the development of foundational models.
