International STEM students

Status: Closed Opened: 16 Jan 2014 Closed: 16 Jan 2014 1 report
Inquiry scopeTopics How, if at all, are immigration policies and rules affecting international science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students? Are international STEM students choosing to study elsewhere instead? Are immigration policies limiting the competiveness of UK higher education institutions in attracting international STEM students? These are the questions at the centre of the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee’s new inquiry into international STEM students and immigration policy. The inquiry follows the report of the Committee on higher education in STEM subjects in July 2012 (2nd Report of Session 2012-13) and the Government response published in November 2012.
