Off-site manufacture for construction

The government welcomes the Committee's report and says it is "committed to working with the construction sector to implement the commitments made in the Sector Deal", while stating it will provide an update on progress "in due course".

• On mortgages and accreditation for off-site homes, the government "agrees" there is a need to ensure buyers can obtain mortgages and insurance, and says a working group is taking forward a single assurance platform "later this year".
• On Key Performance Indicators for the "presumption in favour" of off-site manufacture, the government says it is "difficult to identify suitable Key Performance Indicators" at this stage, but intends to review this on an ongoing basis.
• On publishing justifications where off-site manufacture is not used, the government says doing so "would not support the presumption", but intends to share information on progress and lessons learned.
• On the Sector Deal, the government "agrees" with the recommendation for a detailed implementation plan and says work on one is "already in progress" with the Construction Leadership Council, which is committed to an annual report.
