Following the post-implementation review of LASPO in 2019, we committed to review the application process for Exceptional Case Funding, and this work is currently ongoing within the Ministry of Justice. This includes improving signposting and communications, customer service, and review of application forms. As part of this, and as per the recommendation in the Legal Support Action Plan (2019), we committed to simplifying the guidance for Exceptional Case Funding and are in the process of developing easy read guidance for ECF that prioritizes user need to support understanding of the process. This guidance will be published by the end of the year.
