Inquiry scope
Using powers under section 5(1) of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005, the Lord Chief Justice laid his 2018 Annual Report before Parliament on 14 November 2018. This will be Lord Burnett’s first report: he took up office in October 2017, succeeding Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd who retired at the end of September 2017. The purpose of this session is to raise with the Lord Chief Justice matters covered by his report, as well as other issues of topical interest.Oral evidence sessions
