Inquiry scopeThe Lord Chief Justice's Report for 2017 covers developments across the entire justice system of England and Wales in the last year, including courts and tribunals' modernisation, judicial appointments, diversity and morale within the judiciary, and criminal, civil, family and administrative justice. This will be Lord Thomas's last appearance before the Committee as Lord Chief Justice: he retires at the end of September.
