Inquiry scopeThe purpose of the session is to assess DWP’s progress in addressing delays in the PIP claims process, including special rules claims from terminally ill people, since the previous Minister gave evidence in December 2013 and the Committee published recommendations on improving the service to claimants in March 2014. Issues that will be covered in the meeting include: Performance of assessment providers (Atos and Capita) and steps taken by DWP to address performance issues. Steps taken by DWP to improve its own processes, including resources devoted to clearing the backlog. Improvements made to the claims process, including special rules claims. Outcomes for claimants – numbers and types of payments awarded compared with projections.
