Overwhelming case for government to implement measures for women in music industry.
Recommendation
One year on from its publication, and having heard from key witnesses, we find that there remains an overwhelming case for the Government to implement the measures set out in our predecessors’ report to capitalise on the pockets of momentum that do exist in the industry and help produce lasting change for women in music. (Conclusion, Paragraph 10) Employment law and the Equality Act 2010
Government Response Summary
The government expresses gratitude for the report, reiterates its commitment to addressing misogyny in the music industry, and states it is carefully considering the recommendations and views the Employment Rights Bill as a progressive step.

Acknowledged
I would like to express my gratitude to the Women and Equalities Committee for its follow- up report on Misogyny in Music and the accompanying recommendations. The Government remains firmly committed to addressing misogyny in the music industry and is carefully considering the recommendations to strengthen support for women working in this field. I also appreciate the letter I received on 4 June 2025, which helpfully drew attention to three specific recommendations related to the Employment Right Bill (“the ERB”). I believe the ERB represents a comprehensive and progressive set of policies which will improve women’s working conditions, marking a significant milestone in improving their lives. A response to the recommendations outlined in the letter was sent on 8 July. This subsequent reply seeks to address the remaining recommendations from the full report, as well as to update our previous responses where appropriate. Below, you will find the detailed Government response to each of the recommendations from the Report, which we hope further demonstrates how seriously we regard this issue.
