Report: Women in the House of Commons after the 2020 election Report: Women in the House of Commons after the 2020 election (PDF 533KB) Government Response: Women in the House of Commons after the 2020 election: Government Response to the Committee's Fifth Report of Session 2016-17 (PDF 156KB) The 2017 general election returned the highest number and proportion of female MPs ever recorded: 208 out of 650. However, women still make up only 32% of MPs, compared with 30% in 2015. The Committee is following up its 2016 report, in light of the 2017 snap election, to look at what progress has been made and where further action is needed.
