Inquiry scope
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people are the most disadvantaged ethnic groups in the UK. On average, they have a shorter life expectancy than the rest of the population, poor educational outcomes and often face hostility and discrimination from others in society. In 2012 a ministerial working group published 28 commitments for tackling inequalities faced by Gypsies and Travellers (PDF 208 KB) . This inquiry will look at the impact of those commitments and what progress has been made in achieving them, the effectiveness of policy-making and implementation for these groups more generally, and how the Government can tackle such continuing inequalities.Correspondence
