Recommendation 2

2 Paragraph: 30

The Government has made bold claims that the economic recovery will be a green recovery.

Conclusion
The Government has made bold claims that the economic recovery will be a green recovery. In order to achieve that, the Government needs to set out in its Net Zero Strategy who, at ministerial level, will be responsible for delivering net zero, coordinating the roles of different departments, and ensuring that the UK remains on track to meet its net zero target in a cost-effective way.

HM Government Acknowledged
The Net Zero Strategy will set out the Government’s vision for transitioning to a net zero economy by 2050. The Strategy will present the UK’s pathway to meeting carbon budgets, delivering the UK’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement and meeting our long-term net zero target. Lead delivery departments are responsible for and have produced sectoral strategies, and will continue to do so. For example, BEIS published the Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy in March 2021.
