Inquiry scopeIn March 2011 the Treasury Committee announced an inquiry on the future of the Private Finance Initiative. The inquiry built on the work already done by the National Audit Office and the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee. The Committee concluded that Private Finance Initiative (PFI) funding for new infrastructure, such as schools and hospitals, does not provide taxpayers with good value for money and stricter criteria should be introduced to govern its use.
