Scrutiny of the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement

Status: Open Opened: 24 Jun 2026
Inquiry scopeThe Government has published a draft of the National Policy Statement (NPS) that would be used as the basis for making a decision on whether to grant planning consent for a third runway at Heathrow Airport. The Transport Committee is holding an inquiry to scrutinise the draft Heathrow Expansion NPS, including the extent to which it provides clear guidance about how to assess a proposed runway scheme, and the robustness of the assumptions and requirements in the NPS and its associated documents.
