Recommendation
The Government should work internationally to drive coherence around SDG 2 championing the idea of an international plan to advance efforts to tackle hunger and malnutrition. (Recommendation, Paragraph 70) Learning and application of best practice

The government rejects the idea of an additional international plan, stating that a multitude of existing strategies already exist and a new plan is unlikely to add value. However, it will continue to promote coordination among ongoing global initiatives.

Government Response – Partially Agree 43. The UK is already helping to drive coherence between existing international efforts and actions to achieve SDG2, including through our engagement in multilateral fora such as the G7, G20 and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN. A multitude of international strategies and plans already exists and an additional international plan is unlikely to add value at this stage. 44. The UK will continue to promote coordination between ongoing global, national and subnational initiatives to make progress on food security and nutrition. Such initiatives include: FAO’s Global Roadmap on achieving SDG2 without breaching 1.5 °C, the UN Food System Summit process, the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, COP28 Emirates Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems and Climate Action, and the Global Compact on Nutrition Integration.
