Status: Closed
Opened: 10 Mar 2026
Closed: 17 Mar 2026
Inquiry scope
This session will allow Members to explore the most recent developments regarding the humanitarian situation in the Syrian Arab Republic amid a backdrop of fast-escalating tensions and war in the region. Specifically, it will look at the: challenges Syria and its interim Government face in securing long-term sustainable stability and balancing this against immediate humanitarian need; economic and geopolitical barriers to recovery and reconstruction of the country’s critical infrastructure; issues associated with unexploded ordinances and gun ammunition stockpiles; and actions that the UK Government could take to better support the interim Syrian Government in its endeavour to regain stability despite constrained resources and successive ODA cuts.Oral evidence sessions
