Inquiry scope
Following the announcement that a General Election will be held on 4 July, Select Committees will be unable to meet from 24 May and will cease to exist from 30 May until after the General Election. This work has therefore closed . In recent years the fragility of civil society has become apparent as political turbulence - for example in Afghanistan and South Sudan - and authoritarian repression have put pressure on civic organisations and structures. We launched an inquiry focusing on the FCDO’s approach to supporting civil society and civil society organisations through its programming.
