Status: Closed Opened: 7 Dec 2016 Closed: 15 Jul 2017
Inquiry scopeThe International Development Committee examined the challenges of displacement in Central and East Africa and regional responses to support refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the food crises affecting Central and East Africa. In a letter to the Secretary of State, Priti Patel MP, drawing attention to the evidence the Committee has received on this important topic, the Committee says that the displacement and food crisis in Central and East Africa must rise up the international public and political agenda to avoid scenes similar to those of the 2011 famine in Somalia which killed over a quarter of a million people. Letter, 28 April 2017, to the Secretary of State for International Development, concerning Displacement and food crisis in Central and East Africa
