Inquiry scopeHunger and food insecurity are recurrent topics, with global ramifications and attracting global attention. The G8 Summit in June 2013 under UK leadership will focus on this issue. The International Development Committee conducted an inquiry into how the global food system can ensure an end to hunger. MPs on the Committee called for concerted action to curb food wastage in the UK and for expansion of DFID’s bilateral nutrition programmes with a particular focus on pregnancy and early years, as part of wider efforts to improve global food security.
