Conclusion
The Mortgage Guarantee Scheme, made permanent by the current government, is having a negligible effect on the availability of high- Loan to Value (LTV) mortgages in the current market and on the affordability of home ownership. It may have a benefit in the event of an economic downturn, which could encourage more lenders to use it. (Conclusion, Paragraph 109)
