Following the deal on Erasmus+ having been finalised, and with Ministers having already expressed their ambition for the proposed UK-EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement to enter into force in 2027, we also ask the Government to outline when, following the conclusion of negotiations, it hopes to bring new formal agreements with the EU on carbon trading, electricity trading and the Youth Experience Scheme into force. We also ask it to indicate when we can expect to see concrete improvements in relation to performing artists, business mobility, mutual recognition of qualifications, and cooperation on irregular migration and border control. The Prime Minister has made clear his ambition on implementing the commitments from the May 2025 Summit – it is in both the UK and EU’s interests to conclude negotiations and stand up these commitments quickly so all our people can benefit. The Government is focused on finalising the food & drink and ETS deals and securing a balanced agreement on Youth Experience, by the time of the next summit this year. We are also committed to ensuring the electricity trading agreement comes into force within this parliament. We have set out elsewhere in this response our approach to other important matters such as touring artists, business mobility, MRPQs and irregular migration.
